Joan Bruce is a pseudonym for D.B. Reddick who lives in Camby, Indiana.

In addition to writing the Candi DeCarlo mystery series, Reddick is also

the author of the non-fiction book, The Indiana Flag: Who Really Designed It?

The book, published in 2023, details the four-year campaign undertaken by the Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution (1914-1917) to have the Indiana General Assembly enact a state-specific flag.

The book addresses the question of whether Paul Hadley, a Mooresville, Indiana resident and the individual considered responsible for the flag did, in fact, design it or merely tweaked an earlier version.
